I hesitated buying this lens for my Nikon D40X - probably looked at this property six or seven times before they buy. Honestly I was worried about how it is inexpensive. Now, I'm probably very average amateur photographer in that the majority of my pictures are things of the family: children's sports events, holidays, birthdays, etc.. But this does not mean I'm willing to compromise on quality to save a little money, and I know that the Nikon 55-200 is an objective quality.

Yes, it is plastic, but the thing has a different level of the quality of the budget other Nikon lenses / consumer. I then put the thing on my camera (meant to put on a first filter) and begin to chatter out there, within, and everywhere in between. The pictures are fantastic, the dim light, in particular. The bokeh is not top notch but for anyone but a pro likely that it will be a good compromise is the price tag 199 is a huge selling point here. And make no mistake, the bokeh is not great, I just see better with more (much more) expensive lenses.

So it's hype? Is a sale of $ 199 Nikon lens, is good enough for the most demanding consumers out there? You betcha, this thing is probably the best buy smart and I've done over the last five years. I have three other lenses and I can say without hesitation 35mm F/1.8 AF-S will be on my camera 90% of the time - if not more - from now.

After about a month of using this bag a lot, I can say that I found almost exactly what I designed for myself! I do not write many reviews but feel compelled to do so in this case because I found a number of other tests are ambiguous or contradictory. I could not find a clear and simple EXACTLY what this case can easily accommodate, and ended up waiting much longer than I needed before I feel comfortable enough to order this case. I really wish I had not expected, as it turns out that this is a case of Nice, which takes a lot. Hopefully this review will help other people who want a clear understanding of the capacity of the case.

In simple terms, the main compartment of this case easily and fits comfortably: A Nikon D3000 or D5000 with 18-55mm Lens gasket, a 55-200mm Lens and battery charger and cord. Even if the bag is well built, lighter and looks great I was not impressed at all with housing for my D300. The storage camera is designed for the body with a small lens, perhaps the 18-70 supplied with the kit. With the 18-200 mounted on the camera just does not fit in the provisioning for the camera.

The rest of the bag seemed awkward to access and there was plenty of room for accessories.

Nikon D300s 12MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G AF-S ED VR II Telephoto Zoom Lens

This is a great camera, but Ken Rockwell is not really advisable. I am a previous owner D200, but I am very fond of this D300s. I still have much to do with this experiment. Before the D300 (and sooner rather than later, the D3) I thought the move to comprehensive devices from Canon. I was taking pictures on SLR since I was 10 years old on a Minolta film and I bought my first DSLR (a Nikon D50) and since then I have owned everything from a baseline Canon XSi all the way to the best camera I've ever handled ... the D300. I made the D3, D3S, D3x and the top of the range professional Canons $ 10k and is still my favorite all around camera. Here is the breakdown for that I love this camera and I'll give you a list of advantages and disadvantages. I love this device for many reasons ... [...]... not many people can not justify spending another $ 4000 (2-3 times more money) when they are looking to spend about $ 1,500 - $ 2,000 for a good digital SLR. So here are the advantages I see in D300 on the other Nikon consumer models.

Out of the box, my first impression was not the best, the size of the camera and feel more like my D40 entry-level than I expected. Of course there is the mobile LCD screen (which is more useful than I thought) and Live View button, but not much to separate the appearance and feel from the D40 mode.
Then I spent some time setting things up and shooting - and all of a sudden I'm in love with this thing.
- Menus, IMHO, are waaaay better than anything I saw on other Nikons (D40 and D200 main experiment) and making adjustments AUTO ISO in one place, access to the settings info to the screen is really clean and clear LCD is great.
- The performance in high ISO for low light is good enough for my purposes. What you get some noise, but you get the shot - and if you have found the material for the Web and uses simple - it is perfect.

Great Camera. If you're new to the game DSLR (like me) or you update and you can fork up the cash, it has certainly been worth it. It has a very concise, simple and easy to use interface, the buttons are well placed, and the swivel LCD screen is very nice and useful in certain situations (I love how it folds inward to protect the screen). My main purpose of this unit is still photos for the video is cool and a bonus is surprisingly better than I thought (but if you want to make serious HD video, I would go for an HD camcorder or something else instead ).

 D60 is the upgrade for D40x which I owned previously. The differences between the two are too small to justify upgrading from D40x. If you own D40 and would like more resolution then D60 may fit the bill. For owners of D40x only real advantage is the VR lens, which is probably only slightly better than the non-VR one that comes with D40x (for the zoom range of 18-55mm). Off course not forgetting D-Lighting, which is a very publicized, but I saw no noticeable difference in quality. Using Active D-Lighting allows the camera to take longer to save the images. Might take a few seconds before you can review photos on the LCD.

I've been using Canon PowerShot point-and-shoot digital cameras for the last 6 years, and why are so small, portable, and unobtrusive, I ended up taking a lot more photos that I did, because I had my camera with me. The good thing is that I took pictures a lot more, and most of them were very good (the camera gets most of the credit here). But the bad thing is that I started to reach the limits of what a "point-and-shoot camera can do.

Recently got a D3000, although the manual says the camera, the D3000 Digital Field Guide outdated manual and any other book I read on digital SLR cameras. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has a D3000, it should be mandatory:) The book goes into detail about the different settings that can be used with the camera, how do some photos and also a glossary in the back If you do not understand certain terms of photography like me. The book also comes with a gray card and Checker, color and how to use and the reasoning behind it. As a new mother that I wanted to have high quality photo of my baby and now I do, I do not have to pay someone to do this either! Another great thing about the book is the size, you can take with you on your picture taking adventures, it is easy to browse and find the settings you must use to take amazing photos in any situation. Together, the book prepares you comfortable with your D3000. After reading, you feel excited about taking pictures, because you really know what you are doing instead of just taking snapshots.

An excellent tool, its step by step instructions allowed my niece to go to the brochure operating in no time. After a few more races, I am sure she will be shooting feel very comfortable in the manual mode. The fast shutter was a nice surprise.

I bought one for my D50 and I could not be happier. I am able to adapt to camera with lens attached, two zoom lenses, SB600 flash, two magazines (one for the camera battery and other batteries for flash), the half dozen filters special, and some members of staff from other children. He has a lot of fillings that are velcro attached and can fit any configuration. It is also a large pocket on the front and another baby on the cover. It provides excellent protection for my camera and take my staff conviniece small package. I am very satisfied with the quality of materials. This is defintly a bag to own.

Nikon HB-45 Lens Hood

This plastic cover circular should have come standard with the D40 or D60 18-55mm Nikon AF-S DX goal of the kit, but unfortunately it does not work. Casting off the hood is the same non-textured gloss finish to match the D60 body to perfection. It fits like the bayonet ring in the center of the lens, which also allows a filter and a lens cap. The hood inner ring also has notches that grip the len's focus ring to focus manually by entering the hood without the hood sliding. Hood may also be attached back on the goal of facilitating the storage inside a holster. If not for its high price for a plastic cap, I would give it 5 stars.

This is the first time I've ever purchased a dedicated flash. I used the Superb Vivitar 283 and 285 strobes for years without complaints. However, after buying the Nikon D70, I felt the need for a TTL flash. The camera pop-up flash works well, but I wanted something to get more control.
The SB600 does 95% of what the SB-800 is the most expensive at half the price:

Bounce Flash: Not only can you move the head vertically, you can rotate 270 degrees to get some mild effects Sidell. The iTTL makes bounce flash simple and accurate. When you manually zoom the lens, the SB 600 zooms the flash head to automatically match your focal length and very quiet too.

Power: No problem here. It can easily light an average room. 4 AA batteries give plenty of juice, and the '600 powers himself up in energy saver mode. More importantly, it powers back up quickly when you're ready to shoot.

Goodies: You can dial the flash power down to 1 / 64 full power, and everything else. It's perfect for fill flash. It comes with built in diffuser for ultra wide angle settings. Nikon thoughtfully includes a little stand with tripod socket in case you want to use it off camera. The really interesting part is that SB 600 can be triggered remotely by the D70 or D2H on camera flash! This gives you a studio in a bag "using a flash and a Nikon digital SLR. Very cool.

Ergonomics: Nikon's D70 set new standards in ergonomics, and the SB-600 matches that. The latch for the bounce head has a button handy large rubber to unlock it. All buttons are soft touch, backlit, and very responsive. The TTL is on screen too. There is a good locking device to fix the shoe.

Instructions: Nikon includes a cool, a color book showing what you can do with the SB-600 and 800. Each lighting system has a corresponding page number for the 600 or 800 manual to tell you how. The book is very useful and very well printed. These are the kind of extras Nikon users have learned to respect. I wish all digital cameras have been as well documented as Nikon!

Abstract: For the price, you can not buy a better flash for the D70. Although less expensive than the SB-800 SB-600 is lighter and recycles faster. That's more than the value of money and a perfect companion for your D70.

ADDENDUM. Three years later it is still a flash of choice for all Nikon DSLR done. I recently used to demonstrate the off-camera remote control function built into most better Nikon DLSR. The class I taught were amazed and the Canon shooters were left to be desired. Check out the spontaneous group portrait that I made some students with this thing. Everyone wanted a copy!
